What is Equipment Prescription and Home Modifications?

Our experienced team of occupational therapists are able to provide assistance to your family and child in relation to equipment and home modification needs. Following thorough planning, assessment and discussion your therapist can organise trials of equipment and facilitate the prescription process. In regards to home modifications they can advise of options and considerations, make recommendations for installation according to building standards and experience or review and advise building plans. Your occupational therapist can also assist with any funding approval process.

Our experienced occupational therapists can assist with trial and prescription of the following equipment:

  • wheelchairs, cushions and backrests, complex seating systems, alternate seating & prams
  • sleep systems & beds
  • shower and toilet chairs
  • utensils and feeding equipment
  • car booster seats & car modifications.

Home modifications that your occupational therapist may recommend include grab rails, accessible bathroom design and lever taps as well as step ramps and ramps.

Who: Children (infants to 18 years) who will benefit from this intervention include those with:

  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Limited mobility
  • Vision Impairment
  • Arthrogryposis
  • Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Developmental Disability
  • Acquired Brain Injury.

When: During office hours 8.00am – 6.00pm

Where: Individual Therapy Rooms and Therapy Gym
Home visits will be arranged as required.
