Emma’s passion for paediatric physiotherapy started well before she even knew what it was. As a child she loved playing with dolls and her favourite game was to draw injuries on them and then ‘treat’ them using bandages, slings, and whatever else she could find in the first aid box! This interest led Emma to pursue a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University of Sydney and to work in a variety of clinical settings including major hospitals in Sydney, Orange, and London, as well as in rehabilitation and community workplaces.
Emma has experience treating adults and children with a wide range of conditions from neurological, cardiorespiratory, and musculoskeletal origins. When Emma returned from her work in the UK, she decided to pursue her long held passion for paediatrics and joined the Therapies for Kids family, where she has been running our Intensive Paediatric Therapy programs in a fun and empowering environment.
Professional development is important to keep up to date with the latest proven and evidence-based techniques. In February, 2020, Emma completed a course with our Executive Director, Debbie, called A Systematic, Intensive Approach to Maximize Neuroplasticity and Minimize Maladaptive Habits in Children and Teens with Cerebral Palsy, run by Pia Stampe.
