About Therapies for Kids

Children and young people aged 0 to 18 years. We welcome families from all backgrounds and work with children of all abilities.

We work with children from birth through to their teenage years. Our team tailors therapy to each developmental stage, whether it’s helping babies reach early milestones, supporting school-aged kids with learning and motor skills, or assisting teens to build independence and confidence.

At Therapies for Kids, innovation meets collaboration. We are family-centred and goal-focused, with your child’s goals guiding every session. Our therapists work together across Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, and Exercise Physiology, using a transdisciplinary approach that ensures your child benefits from the expertise of the whole team.

We provide therapy where it works best for your child — in our clinics, through telehealth, or as mobile visits in the community. For children who need more focused support, we also offer intensive therapy blocks.

Our clinics feature state-of-the-art equipment, including harness systems, treadmills, and a full sensory gym. By combining cutting-edge tools with a collaborative team approach, we create therapy experiences that are engaging, effective, and tailored to fit your child’s everyday life.

We have clinics in Sydney and the Riverina region. We can also provide mobile therapy sessions at schools, preschools, homes, and community settings when suitable. Ask our team what will suit your child best.

Yes, we provide telehealth services when appropriate and in partnership with families. Telehealth allows your child to access therapy from home through secure video calls — making it a great option for busy families, those living further away, or times when travel isn’t convenient.

Our therapists make sessions practical by using everyday items from your home, helping your child build skills they can easily apply in daily routines. We’ll work with you to decide if telehealth is the right fit and, when helpful, combine it with in-clinic visits to create the best possible outcomes.

A transdisciplinary approach means your child has a lead therapist who coordinates their care while drawing on the expertise of our wider team. Rather than working in separate silos, our physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, and exercise physiologists collaborate closely — sharing goals, strategies, and insights.

This way, your child’s therapy is fully coordinated and consistent. It avoids conflicting advice, helps progress happen more smoothly, and gives your family one united support team instead of juggling multiple disconnected services.

When you call us, our friendly team will ask a few basic questions about your child and their needs. We’ll then send you our client questionnaire, along with our Terms and Conditions of Service and schedule of fees. This gives you a clear picture of how we work and what to expect.

We’ll also take the time to answer any first questions you may have, while gathering the key information we need to start supporting your child’s therapy journey.

You can contact us directly to book by calling our team or submitting an enquiry online. We’ll ask a few simple questions to understand your child’s needs and match them with the most suitable therapist and clinic location. If you have a referral from a GP, paediatrician, or another health professional — or if your child has been referred through a plan manager or support coordinator — please share this with us so we can include it in your records. Our friendly admin team will then guide you through the next steps, answer your questions, and make sure the booking process is smooth and easy for your family.

For your child’s first appointment, please arrive 15 minutes early to complete the required paperwork.

In your child’s first appointment, we take the time to listen to your priorities, review any reports you may have, and get to know your child through play and movement. We look at their strengths as well as areas where support is needed, then work together with you to set meaningful goals and outline a plan that fits naturally into your family’s routines.

If your child is supported through the NDIS, you’ll usually have two initial appointments, followed by a goal-setting support plan appointment to ensure therapy is tailored to your child’s needs.

Most  sessions run for 45 to 60 minutes. Intensive therapy sessions may be longer. Your therapist will discuss with you what is right for your child.

Intensive therapy is a planned period with more frequent sessions to practice skills and build momentum. It can help consolidate learning through repetition and focused practice using the principles of neuroplasticity. We will discuss whether an intensive block is suitable and how it fits with your child’s goals and energy.

Yes. We run group programs at different times of the year such as school readiness, bike riding, social communication, adolescent and young adult, and Lego-based groups. Groups will vary in size as we match your child with others working on the same goals. Many of our groups run in the school holidays, though in particular, school readiness groups are run in terms 3 & 4. Availability varies by term and location. Ask our team about current groups.

Yes, when it is appropriate and agreed. We also offer clinic based sessions and telehealth. Off site sessions depend on therapist availability and travel arrangements. We will plan this with you. If you wish to receive therapy at home we ask that you first come into  in school holidays),  or have a telehealth appointment for an assessment  and to meet with your therapist. We then arrange quarterly meetings, (often in school holidays), to monitor your childs progress and to review goals.  This can be in clinic, off-site or by telehealth.

A Support Plan helps keep your child’s therapy organised and on track. It brings together key details such as approved therapy hours, NDIS funding information, and how different services work together to support your child’s ongoing needs.

Your child’s goals are discussed and developed directly with their therapist, and the Support Plan then helps monitor how therapy is progressing toward those goals over time. It also helps families, therapists, and support coordinators stay aligned and informed about the services being delivered.

Support Plans are reviewed every six months to make sure therapy continues to meet your child’s needs and to update any changes to their NDIS plan or supports. They also play an important role in NDIS plan reviews, ensuring consistent, high-quality care across your child’s therapy team.

Access and Referrals

No — you don’t need a referral to begin therapy with us. You can contact us directly to make a booking.

If you do have a referral from a GP, paediatrician, or another health professional, or if your child has been referred through an NDIS plan manager or support coordinator, please share it with us so we have a clear picture of your child’s needs from the start.

At busy times we may use a waitlist to offer the next available appointment that suits your family. We do our best to offer options across clinics, in community and via telehealth. We will contact you ASAP to offer a spot. It is often beneficial to have an appointment prior to going on the waitlist to assess whether we can provide you with a Home Program, a Group Program or Allied Health Assistant program while you are waiting.

Children under 7 years can access the NDIS early childhood Intervention approach. We can help you understand your options and next steps. This often involves using a Key Worker who, (once your child has been assessed by the relevant therapist), can implement their program in a holistic manner.

Yes. After each session you will be emailed a home program which outlines the therapist’s observations, what they did in session and what you can do at home to continue your child’s progress. In addition, the therapist will outline the plan for the next session(s) or what might need to be organised.

Appointments and Attendance

Comfortable clothes, a drink bottle, any braces or equipment your child uses, and any recent reports. For younger children, a favourite toy can help them feel settled.

Yes. Parent and carer involvement is advised. You know your child best and your insights help therapy make sense at home and at school. In addition, as we are working on the principles of neuroplasticity, coaching by your therapist during your session will help you to get the most out of the home program.

Please reschedule if your child has a fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or a contagious illness. This helps keep everyone safe. Telehealth may be an option once your child feels up to it.

Please see our Terms and Conditions of Service 2025 for the full policy, including required notice periods and fees. If you need help, contact our team.

During the holiday period, many families take some well-deserved time away. To help us continue providing high-quality, uninterrupted therapy for all families, it’s really helpful if you can let our admin team know your holiday plans in advance.

This allows us to stay organised and create our diaries efficiently, without disruptions, so we can continue delivering the best possible service and care.

By planning together, we can keep your child’s therapy running smoothly and offer available sessions to other families who may be waiting for support. Planning ahead also helps us support your child’s ongoing goals, especially if you would like to book additional sessions before or after your break to maintain therapy consistency.

Funding and Fees

Yes. We support NDIS participants. Your ability to claim depends on your plan type and goals. Talk with us and your support coordinator or planner to confirm how funding applies to the services you choose. Please refer to our terms and conditions of service and schedule of fee for full details.

NDIS prices are set by the National Disability Insurance Agency in the Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits. These are reviewed regularly and usually update each July. We will always be clear about service costs before you book.

Therapy is usually funded under Capacity Building which focuses on skill development in categories such as Improved Daily Living and Improved Health and Wellbeing. The right category depends on your child’s goals and plan. We can discuss this with you and your support team.

Yes. We provide therapy reports, progress summaries, and recommendations when requested. These may be used for NDIS plan reassessments, school planning, or to share progress with other health professionals. Report writing time and collaboration with your team may be billed in line with plan rules, and we will always discuss this with you before we begin.

Reports are important because they give a clear picture of your child’s progress, outline the strategies that are working well, and highlight areas where further support may be needed. They help demonstrate the value of therapy, guide future goals, and ensure funding decisions are based on accurate, professional information about your child’s needs.

You may be eligible for a GP Chronic Disease Management plan that provides a limited number of subsidised allied health sessions per calendar year. Speak with your GP to see if this applies to your child.

Many funds offer extras cover for allied health. Benefits vary by insurer and policy. Please check with your fund about your cover for Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, or Exercise Physiology.

We accept card payments. For funded services we follow the claiming rules for your plan or rebate type. Our team will explain the steps when you book. You can also go through our terms and conditions of service for detailed information.

A Service Agreement outlines the therapy services your child will receive, how they will be delivered, and the cost of each session. It is an important part of NDIS compliance and ensures transparency for both families and our team. It clearly sets expectations, including your goals, responsibilities, and how we will work together to achieve the best outcomes for your child.

Having a Service Agreement in place helps us manage your therapy plan smoothly, maintain clear communication, and ensure your NDIS funds are used appropriately and efficiently.

Therapies for Kids is committed to supporting children and families both within our clinics and across the wider community. We know that accessing therapy, equipment, and resources can be costly, so we actively share information about charities and grant programs that may help cover these expenses.

In addition to taking part in national and local fundraising events, such as Jeans for Genes Day, we connect families with Australian charities and funding bodies that may assist with therapy or equipment costs. These include:

  • Variety – The Children’s Charity – Provides grants for therapy, mobility aids, communication devices, and learning resources. NSW families can also apply for the We Care – Therapy Grant (up to $2,000) and the We Move Grant for equipment needs.

  • Steve Waugh Foundation – Supports children and young people with rare diseases through grants for therapy, equipment, and minor home modifications.

  • Australian Lions Children’s Mobility Foundation – Funds mobility devices such as walkers, frame runners, and adaptive tricycles in partnership with therapists.

  • The Grants Hub – A searchable directory helping families find relevant funding opportunities.

  • Embrace Kids Foundation, The Disability Trust & KidWish, and Belongside Families – Offer financial support, peer connections, and inclusive programs for children and families.

Eligibility criteria and application processes vary by organisation, and most require input from your therapist to support the application. Our team is happy to discuss these options and guide families toward funding opportunities that may be suitable.

Practicalities and Accessibility

Parking and access vary by location, and our team will provide details when you book. All of our clinics are designed to be pram and wheelchair friendly, with accessible entryways and therapy spaces to make visits easier for families.

Where on-site parking is available, we’ll let you know the best spots to use, and for clinics with street parking, we’ll guide you to the closest options. If you ever need extra assistance — for example, help with access or equipment — our staff are always happy to support you on arrival.

Yes. Please let us know in advance so we can arrange an interpreter or provide translated information where available.

Yes. Tell us what matters to your family. We will work with you to respect routines, preferences, and cultural practices.

Yes, if it helps your family. For safety and focus, a supervising adult must be present. Your therapist will guide what works best for the session plan. We have waiting rooms in all clinics where your other children can play provided there is a supervising adult.

Clinical Reports and Collaboration

Yes — with your consent, we are happy to communicate with your child’s school, GP, and other specialists. We can share therapy summaries, strategies, and recommendations to ensure everyone supporting your child is working together towards the same goals. This collaborative approach helps create consistency across home, school, and therapy, making it easier for your child to succeed in everyday life.

Yes. When appropriate, our therapists can assess and recommend equipment or assistive technology to support your child’s goals. We can also provide letters or reports to assist with funding requests and work with suppliers to help organise the right options for your child.

Our aim is to ensure that any equipment or technology is practical, effective, and tailored to fit your child’s everyday routines.

Yes. Therapy works best when it fits everyday routines. We will create practical ideas you can use at home, school, and in the community.

Health advertising rules in Australia restrict the use of patient testimonials about clinical outcomes for registered health professions. We share general stories about therapy where appropriate while protecting privacy and complying with the rules.
