Group Therapy Programs
Where therapy meets fun, learning, and connection.
At Therapies for Kids, we believe children learn best through play, connection, and shared experiences.
Our Group Therapy Programs are designed to help children develop key skills in communication, movement, confidence, and participation — all within a fun, social environment.
Led by our team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech Pathologists, Music Therapist and Allied Health Assistants, these programs bring therapy goals to life through engaging group activities and real-world experiences.
What is Group Therapy?
Group Therapy provides children with opportunities to practise important life and therapy skills alongside peers in a supportive setting. Children work toward their individual goals while learning to share, take turns, problem-solve, and communicate effectively — all through meaningful play.
Our groups are designed around social connection, communication, emotional regulation, and independence. We know that when children feel safe, supported, and part of a group, they learn more confidently and joyfully.
Why Group Therapy Works
- Builds confidence and motivation through shared success and positive peer modelling
- Promotes social participation and friendships
- Encourages communication and emotional expression
- Provides real-world practice for skills learned in individual therapy
- Offers a cost-effective and engaging way to increase therapy intensity
- Creates a predictable and motivating environment that supports routine and growth
Every group is carefully designed under the clinical leadership of Debra Evans, who brings over 45 years of experience in child development and transdisciplinary practice.
How Our Programs Work
- Small group sizes (3–6 children) for individualised attention
- Led by our OTs, PTs, SPs, and supported by Allied Health Assistants
- Pre-group call (around 10 minutes) with the lead therapist to understand your child’s goals and needs
- Session summaries after each group and optional end-of-program report
- NDIS-funded and private options available
Group therapy complements ongoing 1:1 sessions, helping children use their therapy skills in social and everyday settings.
